Mangaung Metro urges residents to be cautious on roads

Mangaung Metro has urged its residents to be cautious on the roads and in their homes as inclement weather sweeps over the interior of the country.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued an impact Based level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms in Mangaung for today and tomorrow. Severe thunderstorms are expected over the western parts of the Free State.

Metro spokesperson Qondile Khedama says the weather conditions may lead to localised damage to properties, difficult driving conditions and falling trees blocking minor roads. Khedama has encouraged road users to reduce speed and switch on headlights.

Pedestrians are urged to be careful when crossing the road and avoid crossing rivers. Households are also encouraged to open pathways to allow water to flow out of their yards.
