Community members, opposition parties, and some ANC members in Mangaung are strongly opposed to Mxolisi Siyonzana as the mayoral nominee.
The only metro in the Free State’s been without a mayor for a year since the ousting of Olly Mlamleli.
Infighting and divisions have led to a stalemate, but despite this Siyonzana remains the preferred frontrunner for the position.
Concerned Mangaung community members in Bloemfontein say they have no faith in the ANC’s nominee for the mayoral position and the only solution is to disband the council.
The opposition in the metro council is also opposed to Siyonzana becoming mayor, saying he’s part of the rot in the city.
