KZN premier office to help pay for Mampintsha’s funeral costs

The premier’s office and eThekwini Municipality will work together in supporting financial costs for Mandla ‘Mampintsha’ Maphumulo’s funeral, Times Live reported today, 28 December. The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government planned to assist the grieving family by bringing about 50 percent backing for the send-off. The musicians summoned to a stroke on Saturday morning, 24 December, and died at King Edward Hospital in Durban.

After a hearty search for the perfect venue to hold the South African star’s send-off, Mampintsha’s memorial service and funeral venues were confirmed.

The memorial service will be held on Thursday 29 December at eThekwini Community Church (ECC). Yesterday Babes Wodumo’s father Reverend Simelane welcomed everyone who wished to commemorate the musician’s life to respectfully come and send him off.

The following day, the musician’s funeral will be held at Durban International Convention Centre on 30 December.

Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube noted that the Big Nuz group revolutionalised South African music and dance. She added that the group put the province on a large scale with their music, not only nationally but also on a global scale. The new style that the trio under Afrotainment opened doors for many upcoming and new artists living in the province who loved music and dance.

“On behalf of the provincial government, we express our deepest condolences to the family, friends and followers of Mampintsha.”

“We will play our part to facilitate a decent send-off for this pioneering artist as he drops the mic for the last time,” the report quoted Dube-Ncube as saying. West Ink Records manager Sbu Ncube said that the family was taking everything one day at a time.

Babes Wodumo reportedly found out that Mampintsha died while scrolling social media. Times Live reported that Babes Wodumo was distraught after a nurse broke the news on social media before the family had any knowledge of the tragedy. She through herself on his lifeless body when she saw him, MDN News reported.
