Actress and musician, Maduvha Madima has shared some heartbreaking experiences about her struggle with depression. The creative industry is known to be quite unstable. Many artists know the pain of riding through the entire year, without any gig. Such realities usually propel its practitioners to wallow in dark spaces, especially depression.
The year 2015 was particularly a hard one for, Maduvha Madima. The multi talented star revealed how employment scarcity saw her swimming in dark oceans. The former Muvhango actress, who brilliantly played the role of Vho – Vele, spoke candidly about her struggle with depression in Sunday Sun.
“I went through depression. I know the pain of being an artist and not getting jobs. I hadn’t done anything wrong but I felt like I had. I guess it was a matter of out of sight, out of mind. The instability of the entertainment industry, pretty much compels artists to spread their talents across other sectors of business.
Maduvha considered dipping her fingers in various pies, but unfortunately, those business ventures failed. I started a couple of businesses but things didn’t go well. I also failed dismally when it came to relationships. I felt like I was in a dark hole.
The good Sis was not about to play victim her whole life, as she initiated a foundation called, Nyarara, meaning peace and quiet. The objective of the foundation is to uplift and empower those living with depression.
