Ntsiki Mazwai comes out guns blazing for Thuli Madonsela on Twitter

Ntsiki Mazwai did not mince her words this week when she made it clear that she is not a fan of Thuli Madonsela. These days it’s difficult to find a public figure who Ntsiki actually likes (outside of her famous sisters, Nomsa and Thandiswa) and it came as no surprise to many when she declared her contempt for the former public protector.

Her criticism of the author and professor came after Thuli’s comments on the current public protector, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane caused a stir on social media.

It all began when Thuli appeared to call out her successor, who is affectionately known as Busi to the public, on social media by highlighting how their practices differed to hers.

The Thuma Foundation founder made particular reference to her successor’s use of the section 7(9) act. If you’re wondering what that is, Politics Web describes the act as: “a section 7(9) is issued ‘If it appears to the Public Protector during the course of an investigation that any person is being implicated in the matter being investigated and that such implication may be to the detriment of that person or that an adverse finding pertaining to that person may result, the Public Protector shall afford such person an opportunity to respond in connection therewith, in any manner that may be expedient under the circumstance’.

This didn’t sit well with several commentators on social media, including Ntsiki who felt as if Thuli was trying to steal Busi’s shine now that she was no longer in office.
