Talented actor Lunga Mofokeng, who is known for his role as Andile Dikana in 1Magic’s telenovela The River opens up about leaving the show. Lunga Mofokeng took to his social media to announce that he’s shot his final scenes as Andile Dikana in The River. Mofokeng thanked production company, Tshedza Pictures and fans of the show for supporting him for six seasons.
“When one door closes another opens right? We’re officially done shooting. Thank you to @tshedzapictures for the opportunity. Thank you to @dstvza @1magictv for blessing the people with our great work week and week out.”
He adds: “Lastly, thank you to you The River fans/supporters. Y’all made us want to come to work every day. Until we meet again,” said Mofokeng on Instagram. Andile Dikana is a gay character, who was Lindiwe (Sindi Dlathu) and Zweli Dikana’s (Hlomla Dandala) son and recently got divorced. DStv revealed in February 2023 that 1Magic’s most-watched telenovela The River is ending after six seasons. The award-winning show featured actors Sindi Dlathu, Lunga Mofokeng, Lawrence Maleka, Hlomla Dandala and more.
Co-creator Phathu Makwarela from Tshedza Pictures production confirmed the show is ending on social media and said: Join us for our last season. The farewell season.,” tweeted the award-winning producer. Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela revealed that the decision to end the show was at the request from Tshedza Pictures production to not do another season.
“The cancellation was a mutual agreement from the channel and producers,” tweeted Mphela. Actors Tango Ncetezo, who played Paulina since season one, and multi-award-winning actor Lawrence Maleka and Hlomla Dandala, who played Zolani and Zweli also bid farewell to the show earlier this year.
