The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has refused to divulge how Lourentia Lombaard is linked to the disappearance of six-year-old Joshlin Smith.
Lombaard on Monday abandoned her bail application in the Vredenburg Magistrates Court, where she faces charges related to Joshlin’s disappearance from her family home in Middelpos in Saldanha Bay on 19 February.
Lombaard will now join Joshlin’s co-accused mother Kelly Smith, Jaquen Appollis, and Stevano van Rhyn, when they appear in court again on 13 May.
NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said Lombaard confessed to playing a role in Joshlin’s disappearance, but the State is not at liberty to divulge the details.
“That would come out in court. It would be so wrong of me to do that. Let’s say maybe she applies for bail or any of them apply for bail, those details will come out in court.”
Ntabazalila has not ruled out extra arrests and charges being added to the case, saying the investigation and search to find Joshlin continues.
