Eskom has ramped up load-shedding to stage six starting from 2 pm on Thursday until midnight.
Stage six will continue from 5 am until midnight on Friday.
Eskom says a minimum of stage 4 will be required continuously over the weekend.
The power utility says the increased power cuts is being caused by striking workers, as routine maintenance isn’t being done.
