SA Lockdown – Limpopo patient arrested

Bheki Cele

Limpopo police have arrested a man for failing to self-quarantine. He tested positive in Gauteng then travelled to Limpopo. Tracer teams struggled to locate him after his results were confirmed. He’s since been isolated.

Some communities are ignoring the President’s call to stay at home. Police Minister Bheki Cele says 55 people have been arrested for not respecting the lockdown curfew.

The health department says it expects more arrests of people contravening quarantine and isolation rules.

Over 1,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been recorded in South Africa.

South Africa has begun a 21-day national lockdown in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.

As it stands, there are nearly 600,000 infections and more than 27,000 deaths worldwide.
