Man left fighting for his life following snake bite

Gauteng: At 01H55 Monday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a snake bite near the Hartebeesspruit River in Kameeldrift.

Reports from the scene indicate that a 35-year-old male had been bitten on the knee by what was identified as a Rinkhals snake.

Medics assessed the patient and found him in a serious condition suffering the affects of a cytotoxic bite.

The patient was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner who provided manual ventilation to assist the patient breathe.

Once stabilised the patient was transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
