Labour ministry wants employers to help workers with UIF funds

The labour ministry is calling for transparency regarding business relief measures. Minister Thulas Nxesi wants employers to help their workers using funds from the UIF.

“Employers must be honest. There are challenges where employers are not assisting employees to claim. Some 220,000 entitled to claim have not yet done so. We are endeavouring now to contact those individuals. The lockdown has left many without jobs. Nxesi, says workers can’t take the fall for their employers’ mistakes.

He’s appealing to companies to make sure they seek funding through the right channels. Many people are suffering because they are unable to work during the national lockdown.

The social media influencer and husband of media personality, Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung uploaded a video and pictures of himself rocking a lockdown hairstyle which saw him move away from his usual bald look to some hair.
