KZN beach closed after storms dislodge shark nets

Scottburgh beach has been closed for swimming on Wednesday morning. Officials have announced the beach has been temporarily closed due to shark safety gear being out of order.

According to Umdoni local municipality mayor Thabani Dube, beachgoers have been compliant with the order.

Dube explained the weather and rough seas had dislodged shark nets protecting the beach from predators.

Once the shark nets are reinstalled and the safety of beachgoers is secured, swimming will be open to the public again.

Beachgoers are advised to avoid swimming there until further notice.
