J. Cole Gets Raunchy On New Cash Cobain Feature Grippy

J. Cole has shown off a surprisingly raunchy side in a new collaboration with Cash Cobain called “Grippy.” A reworking of Cobain’s track “Dunk Contest,” the song finds the Dreamville boss and rising New York rap star waxing poetic about getting between the sheets with a particularly dazzling woman.

Cole kicks off the track by spitting: “She like my kick game/ And when we met, don’t kick game/ I put her front row of the Knick game/ Now she in my phone with a nickname.”

He later raps: “Grippy, I call her that ’cause it’s grippy/ She thinkin’ it hip, she a hippie/ And she thinkin’ of lips, she gon’ lick me/ And she sendin’ a flick when she hit me/ With a kissin’ emoji, she misses me/ When she sees me, she say she gon’ strip me.”

Cash’s part on the track is the same as it is on “Dunk Contest.” J. Cole’s verse received a mixed response from fans, with one taking issue with his sexually explicit lyrics and joking: “What did Kendrick do to Cole.”

Another was more blunt about the song, which is Cole’s second release since he backed out of his rap battle with Kendrick Lamar following his appearance on Future and Metro Boomin‘s We Still Don’t Trust You.

“J Cole’s verse on that Cash Cobain song was fucking atrocious,” they wrote. For Cash Cobain, “Grippy” continues his hot streak of high-profile collaborations following the “Fisher” remix with Ice Spice, “Body” with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and “Attitude” with Don Toliver and Charlie Wilson.

The 26-year-old has also been teasing a collaboration with the elusive Frank Ocean. When asked about forthcoming music in an interview with Billboard last month, the Bronx-born rapper revealed that he was set to record with the R&B star.

“I should be doing something with Frank Ocean soon, too. He fucks with my music,” he said.

If Cobain did secure a Frank collaboration, it would be the singer’s first release in over two years, even though he has been teasing fans with new music in recent months.

Cobain is expected to release his new EP Play Cash Cobain soon, with another A-lister, Drake, reportedly handling the art direction.

Sexyy Red and Drake have worked together several times recently, and the Missouri native has now jokingly explained why that is the case. The 26-year-old rapper dropped her new album In Sexyy We Trust with little notice earlier this week, and it features a cameo by the 6 God wherein he spits over Metro Boomin‘s “BBL Drizzy” beat.

Soon after the joint went viral online, one fan joked wrote, and asked her: “Are you fucking Drake for features ?” Without missing a beat or explaining herself, she responded succinctly (and presumably sarcastically): “Yes.” Read more
