Mzansi DJs and producers help Idols SA Top 9 perform

DJs and producers joined the Idols SA Top 9 to help with the performances for this evening’s episode of Mzansi Magic’s Idols SA.

Prince Kaybee, DJ Cleo, DJ Sumbody, De Mthuda and Sun-EL Musician were part of the episode, and it was the battle of the DJs as contestants sang some of their popular and loved songs by the DJs.

However, one of the judges, Randall Abrahams wasn’t happy about most of the performances.

He said Bulelani, Daylin Sass and Monique seemed like they were performing in a school concert, while he said others, like S’22Kile and Berry, tended to over-sing.

But, lucky for them, fellow judge Unathi Nkayi did not agree with him on some of the performers, saying Bulelani’s collaboration with DJ Sumbody was a great start for a challenging theme.

Monique also impressed Unathi with her performance of Prince Kaybee’s Charlotte, originally sang by Lady Zamar. Unathi said she loved how dynamic the performance was.

Nqobie sang Sun-El Musician’s Akanamali and Randall commended her.

And while Randall commended Nqobie’s performance, Unathi felt the DJ has commanded more attention.

Siya Mzizi, sang Emlanjeni, accompanied by De Mthuda, while Karabo closed off the show on a high note with DJ Cleo’s Gcina Mpilo Yami, both impressing the judges.

Idols also announced the departure of Ithana who had to drop out because of medical reasons.
