Lerato Kganyago knows how to put People in their place

The undisputed queen of clapbacks, Lerato Kganyago, defended her title yet again this week when she sent a tweep packing after he meddled in the business of her romantic life. It was a chilled Thursday morning, filled with #TBT posts and Linda Mtoba’s amazing pregnancy announcement until some tweep decided to interrupt the peace by poking his nose in Lerato Kganyago’s personal affairs.

Those who follow her will notice that she had shared a saucy picture of her outfit on Wednesday rocking a set of killer sunglasses. As usual, the mother of the nation raked in the compliments with DJ Zinhle even admitting that she wants to borrow (read: steal) the sunglasses her bestie was wearing.

However, a day later, one tweep decided to ignore the outfit entirely and asked aloud when Lerato was planning on getting married because he had noticed that there was no ring on her finger. Worse still, the rude tweep claimed that Lerato was getting old (pray for him fam…) suggesting that it was finally time that she settled down and became somebody’s wife.

If you’re insulted reading this here, just imagine how she must have felt seeing this nonsense in her mentions. The radio and television presenter was visibly touched and did not hold back when she issued a scathing response to the unwarranted criticism. Take a look at how the exchange went down:

There seems to be an unwritten rule in the art of exchanging disses and insults: people’s mothers are off limits. However, with Lerato feeling as if this person, in particular, was overstepping his boundaries, she had no hesitation taking it there. And when peeps tried to point out that she had taken it a step too far, Lerato revealed that she did not regret her decision at all because of how rude the initial culprit had been.

A clearly livid Lerato wrote to her followers and issued a stern statement when she said,

“You come here, disrespect us and then play victim? La tsuba!!! I bother NO ONE! Le skang sukela!”

This is not the first time that celebrities have responded harshly after being provoked on social media. However, it seems as if whenever celebrities decide to hit back, fans tend to get touched (insert shocked pikachu emoji here). Nomzamo Mbatha famously called out bullies after her infamous “tax bracket” clapback back in 2018. When people told her she had taken it too far, the presenter hit back and said,

Tweets MUST be taken into context. Now we can’t address “trolls” at the level they choose to jab? Is’not fun anymore ke.
