
Home Affairs Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi has denied claims they are forcing anyone to sign deportation papers. At least 30 people are being held at the Lindela Repatriation Centre in the West Rand.
Home Affairs has begun deporting those who are in the country illegally. Those who don’t qualify for refugee status are also set to be deported.
They are part of a group of refugees and asylum seekers who protested outside of the offices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Cape Town last year. The group wanted to be moved to other countries but not their countries of origin.
