Musa Mseleku’s son Mpumelelo’s big hidden talent

There has not been many players from the Mseleku clan name that have graced us with their talents in the Premier Soccer League.

And Mpumelelo Mseleku is out to change that narrative. The 21-year-old son of polygamist Musa Mseleku made his DStv Diski Challenge debut for Swallows this past weekend when he was introduced as a substitute in their 3-1 loss to Kaizer Chiefs.

Mseleku rose to fame through his family’s reality show uThando Nes’thembu, and many people believe that is how he got into football. He was easily recognized for being Musa’s son.

However, the ambitious youngster said that he got the opportunity on merit, and he will prove that on the field as he wants to be the next Mzansi soccer star.

“This is not about my father, it is about me I am the one who is playing football,” said Mseleku.

“It is just a matter of time until people see what I am capable of. I want to be one of the best players in the country. There has not been a lot of Mselekus in the PSL, but I believe I will pave the way for other Mselekus.”

Talking about his Diski Challenge debut, he said he would have loved to get more minutes, but he is optimistic he will start in the Dube Birds’ remaining games.

He added: “It was nice to be on the pitch. It was my first time playing and I enjoyed myself. I am hoping in the remaining games I will get more minutes and contribute in the team as we are looking at getting at least nine points out of the possible 12 (that are available).”

Swallows are 14th in the Diski Challenge with 25 points from 26 games.
