Shauwn Mkhize responds to claims that she paid money to get her Uzalo gig

Shauwn Mkhize might be filthy rich but her riches do not buy her opportunities as she works very hard for them. This is what she told a local publication following the backlash she received after landing her first-ever acting gig on SABC 1’s hit telenovela Uzalo.

The entrepreneur and reality TV star says she is a hard worker and hustler who chases opportunities instead of the other way round. She denounced claims from naysayers who said she did not deserve her Uzalo job because she has zero talent. Again, the open-up industry chat came through.

She asked a rhetorical question which says, “How many people have money but are not in the spaces I am?” Coming from a political family also did not really make her to be the person she is nor gain her the riches she has.

She admitted that although she might have all the money she could ever want, money is not the centre of her universe as it cannot but her everything she needs. “At the end of the day I am human and I put the effort in everything I do. It is not because there’s money. But, you know, people will always want to attach money to everything I do, like everything is based on money.”

The star plays a wealthy businesswoman who has her eyes set on taking KwaMashu Kingdom Church. She admitted that she did not audition for the role and that Uzalo’s production team headhunted her. “I’m actually feeling excited, dying to see how the final thing eventually came out,” MaMkhize told a local publication.

She clarified and said she never saw herself as an actress so when the opportunity presented itself she could not resist because people have been wanting her to return to their screens. Fans have apparently been asking for her to come back with another season of her reality show Kwa MaMkhize, but she quickly killed their dreams when she announced that there will not be a second season.

She confirmed it to a local publication. “I feel I have achieved what I had set out to do on season 10 want to keep season 1 as my Legacy. It was an inspirational show to build my brand and reputation and I am very happy. I did not expect that people fall in love with Mamkhize but they did and it’s time to let go there’s no need for season 2. I was trying something new and I have achieved that goal making season 2 would not make sense.”
