KwaZulu-Natal: At 05H56 Sunday morning Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the M35 in Isipingo, South of Durban.

Reports indicate that a mini-bus taxi and a bakkie were involved in a head-on collision.

Medics assessed the scene and found an adult male driver who had sustained serious injuries, crushed in the wreckage of the vehicle.

Multiple occupants from the taxi had sustained minor to moderate injuries and were treated on scene before being transported by various ambulance services to the hospital.

A Netcare 911 rescue technician with the Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services used hydraulic tools to free the man while Emergency Care Practitioners treated the patient.

Once stabilized and freed, the patient was flown by Netcare 911 helicopter to a specialist facility.
