GENERAL WORKER AND CLEANER
Location – Rosslyn Drying Plant
Position
The General worker/cleaner’s main responsibility is the cleaning of the facility and to assist with maintaining all aspects of safety, hygiene, and housekeeping.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
Reporting of all defects, breakdowns, deviations from procedure to the production supervisor
Cleaning of all work areas and equipment
Assist with the loading and off-loading of products, spares, material, etc.
Assist with the cleaning of spillages
Responsible for the cleaning of all pits
Assist maintenance staff with maintenance
Assist with breakdown repairs
Stand-in for any general work that is absent and or on leave
Inspect and lubricate front end loader and complete the relevant recording sheet and handing it over the relevant production supervisor
Clean and unblock silo’s
Taking of samples and do moisture test to ensure product quality and report the results in writing to the production supervisor
Operate the weighbridge for incoming and outgoing loads
It may be required from to perform other work for which you are either qualified or capable of doing within the company from time to time
Must be willing and able to work in an environment that is dusty and noisy
Must be capable and willing to work overtime when required
This position entails shift work
Required skills and knowledge
Minimum requirement Grade 10 certificate
Preferred requirement Grade 12 certificate
Preference will be given to candidates with technical/mechanical experience
1 year proven general working experience
English literacy, reading and writing
Required characteristics
Must be able to carry heavy objects
Good communicator
Listening skills
Honesty and Integrity
Must be able to work effectively and efficiently
To be able to undergo continuous training and evaluation
Exceptional personal hygiene practices
