Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku addresses nurses day event

Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku joins nurses at Zone 17 clinic at Sebokng to celebrate International Nurses Day. Throughout the world, International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12 May. The day also marks the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing and infection control.

The provincial health department says Masuku’s visit is part of the Employee Value Proposition programme which is aimed at providing staff morale and recognising excellence in the department.

This year the day is celebrated at a time when nurses are at the frontline of fighting the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. These heroes make up a significant number of healthcare workers tackling the pandemic.
