Gauteng Education welcomes changes to Alert Level 1

Cabinet has approved several changes to the adjusted Alert Level 1 of Covid-19 regulations.

Schools will now return to full-time teaching and the 1m social distancing rule has been scrapped.

The Gauteng Education Department says it welcomes the new changes and adds it’s still waiting for guidance.

“Just waiting for the Minister to give us guidance in terms of how we are supposed to be starting because she’s the one who announced that we need to operate in this fashion,” said the department’s spokesperson Steve Mabona.

“The sooner we have all of them in the classroom and we continue with the process of teaching and learning, we will then be happy as a sector.”
