Eight markers have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Free State.
The province’s education department said they are quarantining at home and the marking rooms they were working in have been decontaminated.
Other markers were taken to other venues where possible. The department reiterated that all marking centres have sufficient PPE.
Free State Education spokesperson Howard Ndaba thanked markers, trade unions, and teachers unions for their commitment to completing the process.
Ndaba said all marking centres are monitored by COVID-19 compliance officers and urged all employees to continue complying with regulations including mask-wearing, hygiene, and social distancing.
