Police Minister Bheki Cele says foul play can’t be ruled out in the murder of yet another security officer and bodyguard from Fort Hare University as investigations continue. The slain officer was allegedly a key witness in an upcoming fraud and corruption trial against university staff.
Earlier this year, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Sakhela Buhlungu’s, bodyguard Mboneli Vesele was killed. A university fleet manager was also murdered.
The President has appointed a task team to look into the safety of staff at the University following numerous threats to their lives.
Cele said, “the information we have with Fort Hare now, five people arrested… Two of them are from KZN…The information we have is that a person died in the car accident the problem we have is that is one of the key witnesses.
“We’re don’t have any information saying that it could have been foul play but the team is working on verifying that.
