Flight Centre clips SAA’s wings

Flight Centre has issued an immediate stop-sell on South African Airways (SAA) tickets.

This is in response to a decision by the Travel Insurance Consultants excluding the airline from its Travel Supplier Insolvency benefit.

Flight Centre says its the first time it’s had to issue a stop-sell on SAA.

The travel group says the move is necessary to mitigate the risk to the company and its clients.

It says its customers can still book with SAA, but it “strongly advises that alternative options are utilized until certainty regarding the airline’s long-term sustainability is obtained.”

The embattled airline is struggling with debt and has stated they do not have enough money to pay the salaries of workers.
