Financial and Fiscal Commission Chairperson, Daniel Platjiees has died. In a statement released by his family, Plaatjies died on Saturday night of natural causes.
Plaatjes was born in Bonteheuwel, Cape Town 57-years ago. He was appointed Chairperson of the Financial and Fiscal Commission three years ago.
His family has described him as a patriot who dedicated his life to the cause of social justice and non-racialism.
He held a doctorate in Governance, Public Policy and Public Finance from the Wits University where headed that department.
Plaatjies served the country in numerous positions within Government. He leaves behind his wife, Lydia and children three children.
