Chaos as tanker, multiple trucks and cars involved in fiery crash

KwaZulu-Natal: At 18H32 Friday evening, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the N3 South Bound, near the Marianhill Toll Plaza in Shongweni Durban.

Reports indicate that Multiple trucks, cars, and a tanker have been involved in a collision and have all been caught alight.

Medics have assessed multiple patients who have all sustained moderate to serious injuries.

As the fire rages on, it has not been determined how many people are still unaccounted for.

On scene is the SAPS Search and Rescue, Durban Metropolitan Search and Rescue, SAPS, Ethekwini Fire and Rescue, Road Traffic Inspectorate as well as many private and government ambulance services.

The Ethekweni Fire and Rescue Services have multiple units on scene and are working on dousing the flames.

Netcare 911 has activated a helicopter air ambulance to the scene to airlift one of the seriously injured patients.

The scene is still active and details are subject to change as more information becomes available.
