Actress Thuthuka Mthembu, who plays the role of Nonkanyiso in Uzalo, said she was shocked when she found out that there is a person who created a Twitter fake account using her name as well as her photos.
She said it was scary that people use their time to drag others’ names on social media.
“It is shocking that there are people who take their time to tarnish other people’s images by creating fake accounts on social media. There are sick people out there, going as far as creating a person’s fake account is sick. People are using their time to violate others instead of doing something that can improve their lives.
“It is sick and shocking. As a person who is in the public eye, I must behave in a certain way. But I am afraid that the fake account creators do not care. They write anything on social media without considering whether it is appropriate or not,” said Mthembu from Umlazi, south of Durban.
She said she had to warn her followers on Twitter about the fake account.
There are two fake Twitter accounts, the first one has over 5 000 followers while the other one has 3 800 followers.
Her real account has over 22 000 followers.
