Eskom takes centre stage again at #Statecaptureinquiry

South Africans will now cough up more to keep the lights on.

Electricity tariffs are set to rise over the next three financial years.

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) approved the following Eskom tariff hikes to increase by 9.42-percent in 2019, 8.1-percent in 2020, and 5.22-percent in 2021.

However, the Minerals Council of South Africa warns that jobs could be lost if Eskom’s application was granted.

The Business Unity South Africa also says the hikes will undermine economic recovery efforts.

South Africans feel the increase will hit their pockets hard.
