Professor Malegapuru William Makgoba has been appointed interim chairperson of Eskom. Makgoba replaces Jabu Mabuza who resigned last week.
Mabuza cited Eskom’s inability to meet power demand for his resignation.
Makgoba, a leading scientist and academic, joined the Eskom board as a non-executive director in 2018 and is the lead independent director.
In a statement, the government said it was “going through the process of putting in place a reconfigured board”.
