High Road accident

Driver collides with biker and bakkie, flees the scene. A female biker and an elderly couple travelling from a 90th birthday party suffered serious injuries on Saturday afternoon after a speeding driver on High Road towards Pomona collided with both parties.

The biker suffered severe trauma to her leg, while the elderly couple had fractured limbs. According to

Gerald Groenewald from SecPros Security, a driver in a white Mercedes first collided with a woman on her motorbike at around 3 pm.

“The driver sped away and then collided head-on with the elderly couple, driving a bakkie, about 200 metres down the road,” Groenewald told Kempton Express. “The couple’s vehicle was impacted so hard that it overturned.”

The couple suffered fractured limbs. Groenewald said the biker had severe trauma to her leg, with multiple fractures to her entire leg and foot. “At one stage, medical services called an air ambulance for support, but they couldn’t wait any longer so she was transported to the hospital.”

A passenger in the white Mercedes was treated for head injuries and taken to the hospital, but the driver had fled the scene. According to Groenewald, the driver was still at large on Sunday morning.
