DJ Sbu responds to calls to pay Zahara

It was only time before DJ Sbu hit back at calls to “pay” Zahara back the money. But the record label owner claimed to have supported her through her ‘alcohol addiction’.
Social media fans once again took to the Twitter platform to drag DJ Sbu after he posted a motivational message. They called on him, who is one of the directors of TS Records to pay back the money owed to the former label artist, Zahara.
DJ Sbu issued a statement to TshisaLive, in which he claimed that Zahara, whose real name is Bulelwa Mkutukane, had been paid all money owed to her. He also added that the label supported her through her alleged “alcohol addiction”, which led to her being hospitalised five months ago. Sbu said: “These accusations come as a surprise as Bulelwa Mkutukane has always been like a sister, who picks up a phone every time she has a problem.
He said the record label had stood by her during difficult times. “We have always been there for her during her trying times. When no one believed in her talent, we did – and we invested millions of Rands into her career. When the media was attacking her during her addiction, we were the ones who took her to rehab. Including this past Christmas day, December 25 2018 –we were the ones by her bedside during her hospitalisation because of her alcohol addiction
DJ Sbu said they have tried everything they could since the beginning of her career to provide advice, care, resources and career management services. Zahara made headlines last month after she accused TS Records, which is co-owned by DJ Sbu, of underpaying her for performances, record sales and royalties. The singer later told Metro FM’s Mo Flava that she would sometimes get “a mere R10 000” from the company.
But TS Records responded with issuing a cease-and-desist letter preventing her for making “false and defamatory statements” about the company in the media. DJ Sbu also posted several statements issued by TS Records, Universal Music and Sheer Publishing Africa on social media, all claiming that had paid all monies owned to Zahara.
DJ Sbu was adamant that Zahara had “been paid funds amounting to more than R10m into her own personal banking account to date”. He said Zahara has left the company in 2015 after demanding clearance, which he said was granted to her at no cost, despite Zahara owing them another album.
When TshisaLive approached Zahara for comment on the TS Records claim and her being hospitalised for her alcohol addiction, Zahara referred them to her Instagram video which she posted to address the issue.
Meanwhile, a month ago DJ Sbu doesn’t know who his future wife is yet, but that didn’t stop him from letting her know what she’ll be getting into one day. He penned a note to her on Twitter, pointing out that she’ll be marrying a billionaire. DJ Sbu hasn’t met the love of his life yet, but he sounds very excited about settling down with a special lady one day.
The entrepreneur and DJ took to social media to let his future wifey know what she can expect – a billionaire. He said that he has many questions about her, how they’ll meet and if he’ll know immediately that she’s ‘the one’. One thing he does know though – his wife will have a billionaire for a husband.
