SA needs to reset itself, says Dikgang Moseneke

Retired Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke believes the South African revolution has failed.

He says virtually every state entity and government department is a sight of pillaging and a site of crime against our people.

He was speaking at the South African Editors’ Forum’s annual fundraising gala dinner.

The event commemorates Black Wednesday and emphasises the importance of a free press.

“Our revolution in my view has failed. A small prosperous black middle-class cannot be the measure of what we set about to create, a new inclusive society, free from violence and free from inequality,” Moseneke said.

“The vast majority is in desperate circumstances. After 30 years I’m afraid our country must reset in order to envision a new future.”
