Thirty years on and South Africans are still protesting for their right to basic human dignity.
So, instead of celebrating, angry Diepkloof residents are out on the streets demanding proper housing, water, and electricity.
They want Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi to deliver on promises he made during his State of the Province address.
On Tuesday, Housing MEC Lebohang Maile visited hostels to engage community members.
But his meeting didn’t go as planned when he was whisked away due to an alleged security threat.
He’s expected to return to Diepkloof on Thursday.
