Parents at a Diepkloof school in Soweto for autistic children picketed earlier, calling for the removal of the principal.
They allege the principal is misusing school funds, as well as not working with the community and parents to address issues facing the pupils.
They are demanding access to psychologists, occupational therapists, and transport for children, as well as a change to the curriculum.
The school governing body wants the principal removed but the Gauteng education department says there are processes that need to be followed.
“We are looking at the working arrangement between the entire SGB and the principal because you cannot say you don’t want a principal because of allegations that were not tested,” said Gauteng Basic Education spokesperson, Steve Mabona.
“You then bring some parents in a school environment without even conducting a proper meeting.”
