JOB DESCRIPTION :
The Machine Shop department currently has a vacancy for a hardworking, dedicated individual to join their team. The successful candidate will:
Examine copper extrusion die’s and chambers for damages
Cut off excess copper from die chambers using Vertical band saw
Remove internal die’s out of the die chamber using a hydraulic press
Be responsible for the removal of the leftover copper out of the extrusion die and die chambers
Be responsible for using the Angle Grinder plus pencil grinder
Be responsible for working on a drill press
Ensuring proper die functioning in relation to maintenance and cleaning, including shut-down, dismantling, cleaning, and start-up of the machine
Cleaning the dies that are brought to the die cleaning cage
Performing housekeeping duties in die cleaning area
Abide by the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
QUALIFYING CRITERIA:
Grade 12 or equivalent
Minimum of 1 – 3 years relevant working experience
Knowledge and previous experience using power tools
Strength to handle materials and tools (physically fit)
Good hand-eye coordination
Hands on practical approach to the job
Knowledge of Health and Safety Rules
Ability to work under challenging conditions
Sound communication skills (understand, read and write English)
Must be prepared to work overtime when required
