The SABC has been in financial trouble for a good minute now. And it’s response has been to shuffle people and shows. Recently, it cancelled one of it’s long standing signature shows, Top Billing on SABC 3. The announcement that the show was being cancelled came just a week before it was switched off air. Much to many a Top Billing avid viewers dismay, the show’s send-off fell short of many expectations from it’s fans. Top Billing made our mouths water for travel, style and home designs. Not forgetting, the ever so decadent Fezile Mkhize among the many sexy presenters of the show.
And now up on the chopping block is South Africa’s favourite, long-standing mining drama, Isidingo. The soapie which has been on air since July 1998 has truly come become part and parcel of the South African home. Priding itself with being relevant and agile by showcasing current affairs on the show as the news broke. Definitely something that set it aside from the rest.
When news broke of the beginning of the end, ZAlebs on Twitter were not to happy and have voiced their disappointment in the SABC and the corruption and looting that has led to the end of their favourite soap and job losses for their favourite actors and actresses.
The SABC decision to cancel terminate #Isidingo from our screens is a personal attack on all of us who relate, follow and love the soapie nje.
First it was #TopBilling and as we are still dealing with that, they drop this bomb shell on us.
Mara why vele SABC

How do you can a great show like Isidingo? Probably one of the best soapies in the country that deals with the current issues in the country. I certainly hope this is not true.
