SA Covid-19 – Deaths rise to 3 502

South Africa added more than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total number of cases to 215,855.

The health department reported 192 further deaths, bringing the total since the outbreak to 3,502.

Those who succumbed were 75 people from Gauteng, 44 from the Western Cape, 36 from the Eastern Cape, 22 from KwaZulu-Natal, and 15 from Limpopo.

Gauteng is poised to become the new epicenter of the coronavirus.

The province has only 668 fewer cases than the Western Cape after a recent surge in infections.

More than 1.9 million tests have been conducted and there have been 102,299 recoveries.
