Job Description:
BDO Johannesburg is looking for Cybersecurity Director
to join the team.
Tasks:
Create a sustainable and profitable cybersecurity
consulting practice, focusing on external clients’
cybersecurity needs.
Develop and execute a go-to-market cybersecurity
strategy, including a marketing strategy.
Build an in-house cybersecurity team to deliver high
quality cybersecurity services to BDO clients.
Develop, maintain and retain a high performing team
of cybersecurity experts.
Effectively manage budgets in alignment with
strategic targets.
Develop and execute proper business development,
marketing and sales plans.
Develop high quality thought leadership in the
media.
Establish and improve the BDO cybersecurity brand in
the market.
Provide cybersecurity leadership and technical
guidance to both the cybersecurity and IT audit
teams.
Provide input and direction to the cybersecurity
team around the use and deployment of relevant
security tools and processes.
Manage vendors and third-party resources
effectively.
Recommend future strategies, projects, budgets to
ensure a profitable business.
Develop and continue to evolve comprehensive
cybersecurity methodologies to ensure integrity,
confidentiality and availability of information of
clients.
Support data privacy audit assignments from a
cybersecurity perspective.
Support IT audits with a strong IT security
component.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of national legislation
applicable to cybersecurity.
Assist clients with security incidents and events to
protect their corporate IT assets, including
intellectual property, regulated data and the
company’s reputation.
Provide strategic risk guidance to clients for IT
and business projects, including the evaluation and
recommendation of technical controls.
Monitor the external threat environment for emerging
threats – including the establishment of a threat
database.
Responsible for compliance with BDO’s policies.
Demonstrate the firm’s values in the performance of
all job functions.
Skills and experience required:
IT security and cybersecurity-related qualifications
obtained from reputable and internationally
recognized institutions – e.g. CISM, CEH, CISSP, etc.
Strong interest in cybersecurity and good knowledge
of new trends in the market as well as solid
understanding of most commonly used systems in the
market, including ERP systems, operating systems and
database management systems.
Understanding of business processes and how IT and
cybersecurity controls can be used to protect the
the integrity of these business processes.
Practical (NOT theory about!) cybersecurity
experience required (solid 10 years + of experience
required).
Good working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel & MS
PowerPoint.
Knowledge of available and commonly used
cybersecurity tools in the market.
Good English language communication skills, both
verbal and written (including excellent report
writing skills).
Experience in consulting, selling and marketing
(including proposals and professional
presentations).
Sound private and public sector experience as
consultant.

08:00 – 17:00 with flexibility
There will be occasions where the incumbent would
need to work overtime
There will be occasions where the incumbent would

Reporting line:
The incumbent will report to the head of Tech
Advisory.
Commencement date:
