Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the R617 near the Boston SAPS in the KZN Midlands.
Reports from the scene indicate that a bakkie hit a stray cow on the road.
The 53-year-old male driver sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene and transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
The cow died on scene.
