Africa sees increases in COVID-19 cases

The World Health Organization says COVID-19 is on the increase across Africa.

In 22 countries, cases have risen by 20 percent in a week and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Namibia and Uganda are reporting their most weekly cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

The WHO has confirmed that lack of adherence to prevention measures is contributing to the rise in cases.

South Africa recorded more than 13,000 new infections on Wednesday, the highest daily number in five months.
