Comrades Marathon cancelled due to COVID-19

Athletics South Africa on Thursday announced that the 95th edition of the Comrades Marathon has now officially been cancelled. ASA President Aleck Skhosana says the decision to cancel the ultramarathon was a long and arduous process.

The race was initially set to take place in June this year, before being postponed last month with the hope of staging it no later than the end of September.

However, there are fears that the pandemic may be at its peak during that time. Entrants will not be refunded their entry fee, but will instead be given a runners T-shirt, goodie bag as well as the Comrades badge and flash.
