Job Duties/Responsibilities will include:
The incumbent operates motor vehicles to transport passengers, documents, and parcels as required. The incumbent works different shifts on a rotating basis to provide adequate availability of drivers to meet the mission’s needs. The incumbent works South African holidays and weekends on a rotational basis. The incumbent may also be required to work night shifts.
Candidate Requirements/ Experience:
Education:
Successful completion of secondary school is required.
Work Experience:
Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience as a chauffeur or driver is required.
Language:
Level 3 (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required.
Level 2 (Limited knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of one additional South African official language is required.
Skills and Abilities:
Valid South African license code 10 (C1) with Professional Drivers Permit (PDP) is required.
Ability to maintain precise written transportation records is required.
Ability to drive long distance in areas throughout South Africa is required.
Ability to maintain a valid driver medical clearance is required.
Job Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge and familiarity of South African road and driving conditions and restrictions is required.
Familiarity with city layout of Pretoria and Johannesburg (Gauteng area) and their suburbs is required.
Sound knowledge of S.A. Government and other important buildings is required.
Knowledge of operating a Global Positioning System (GPS) is required.
Knowledge of reading road maps and plot routes to unknown locations is required.
Protocol knowledge for driving VIP customers is required.
