Main Purpose of the job:

The Collections officer is responsible for managing the end to end process of premium collections across all collection channels from customers. They are to ensure the investigation and allocation of unallocated premiums and balancing/reconciliation of all related accounts and associated administration duties.

Relevant Qualifications: Minimum of a Bcom Accounting Degree or relevant finance related field

Min Experience required: 2 years working in a financial services industry in a finance related role

Key Responsibilities:


Ø To balance and reconcile all Debit order, Stop Order & Cash collections against the collections book on a daily basis and forward all arrears customers to all relevant stakeholders

Ø Allocation of premium payments

Ø Daily management of Branch cash collections

Ø Responsible for detailed collections weekly variance analysis and investigations.

Ø Prepare monthly returns and reconciliations for month end reporting for all collections received.

Ø Assist with Stop Order, Cash and Debit order balancing figures for unreconciled items

Ø Responsible for preparing all entries to be processed and to be signed off by correct signatories in accordance with audit regulations

Ø Investigation of unmatched/unbalanced collections

Ø Clearing and management of suspense account


Ø Analyse failed returns timeously and ensure that the relevant actions are taken to retain prior to policy lapsing.

Ø To consistently improve strategies and arrear policies are forwarded to Retentions team timeously.

Ø Accurately report relevant information to decision-makers.

Ø To investigate, resolve and process all collection queries within agreed time frame

Ø To investigate, resolve and process of unallocated premiums within agreed time frame.

Ø To keep all query payments up to date with the necessary documentation and ensure queries are actioned and closed within agreed time frames

Ø Responsible for investigating all queries thoroughly and ensuring that correct accounts are utilized for refunds to customers

Ø Responsible for liaison with the operational/call centre team with regards to queries and feedback required from them

Ø Provide support to Doves, NFS and 3SL and UiPlay stakeholders

Ø Capturing and allocating manual receipts

Ø Provide daily reporting using Cash-up Dashboard data and finance unmatched cash recon

Ø Responsible for checking and clearing collection related entries in the Suspense accounts.

Ø Ensure adherence to audit requirements at all times

Ø Ensure proper and accurate storage of documentation – boxing and labelling of information

Ø Assist in any areas of the department if requested or required and any other appropriate duties that may be requested of the incumbent from time to time
