The African National Congress has assembled a team of negotiators to drive the forging of coalitions.
The team will be led by Treasurer General Paul Mashatile and Deputy Secretary-General Jessie Duarte.
This after over 60 municipalities across the country ended without a clear victor in the elections.
In a statement released on Sunday, the ANC says it is a common denominator in all these hung municipalities.
It also says it met with some political parties on Saturday and is prepared to meet with other parties when they are ready to engage.
