City of Joburg outlines plan to deal with attacks on medics

The Johannesburg Public Safety Department will detail plans on how it will deal with attacks on emergency personnel.

This follows an alarming increase of attacks on emergency services personnel over the past couple of months.

The most recent incident happened on Monday when an ambulance crew came under attack in Cosmo City.

Last year, the South African Emergency Personnel Union called on its members to arm themselves. But the move was widely criticised.
