RIP: Cause of veteran actor Chris ‘Bra Spokes’ April’s death revealed

South Africa’s veteran actor Chris April, Bra Spokes, passed away at 84 earlier this month. The SABC reports that the Mama Jack actor Chris April was murdered during a robbery at his home in Nyanga on the Cape Flats in February.

A family spokesperson, Johnson Puza tells the publication that robberies broke into April’s home and attacked him. The 84-year-old actor recognised one of the suspects.

Puza adds, “Thieves broke into his house where they caught him in his sleep. They took his items and when they were about to leave, he recognised one of them. Thus, they came back and injured him terribly. He was taken to Groote Schuur hospital, on the 6th of February until his passing at a different hospital, the Mitchell’s Plain district hospital on the 31st of March.”

April’s daughter Tia Anan took to her Facebook on Saturday, 6 April to confirms her father’s passing.

“Rest in power daddy Chris “Bra Spokes” April. He was a father, uncle, role model, legendary actor, music influencer, teacher. He was an inspiration to everybody that he came in contact with. Memorial Service will be on Wednesday the 10th of April eZolani Centre between 15h00-16h00.”

Zimoja reports that the actor died on Sunday, 31 March. While his daughter reveals that her father will be buried on Saturday, 13 April.

IMBD reports that the legendary actor Chris April has appeared in shows such as Blended and The Bone Snatcher.

The 84-year-old has also appeared in SABC’s comedy series, Stokvel and acted in films such as Zulu and Accidents.

April is famously known for his portrayal as a sangoma in Leon Schuster’s film, Mama Jack in 2005.

It is reported the veteran actor was working on a German TV series called Heaven Africa at the time of his death.
