There is nothing we love more than a South African celebrity wedding. From the expensive designer dresses to the five-star reception venues, no expense is spared whenever A-list stars plan their big day. One local celeb’s ceremony reportedly cost over R1 million! Here’s a look at eight celebrity weddings in South Africa that blew our minds.

Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung’s lavish traditional ceremony was dubbed the wedding of the decade. The grooms looked like Egyptian royalty in custom-made Get-Johan Coetzee outfits. Somizi and Mohale changed five times throughout the day! Their reception décor would put every royal wedding to shame. A nine-tier cake and two chandelier cakes almost stole the spotlight. Somizi and Mohale sat on extravagant thrones at their reception.

The who’s who of the entertainment industry were invited to the celebration. Cassper Nyovest, Pearl Thusi, Bonang Matheba, Kelly Khumalo, Khanyi Mbau and Lerato Kganyago were just some of the stars in attendance. The spectacular outfits worn to the #SomhaleTraditionalWedding were fit for a red-carpet event.

The ceremony was a small one with only close family and friends attending. A handful of Kwesta’s celebrity pals were there to support him on his big day. Kid X, Sjava, Dr Malinga and Ringo Madlingozi were some of the A-list guests at the wedding.

Khaya Mthethwa and former Miss South Africa Ntando Kunene’s traditional wedding in 2017 took place just three months after they started dating. Ntando was dressed in a Swati outfit. Khaya gave his in-laws several gifts including blankets, pots and groceries.

Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones

Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones’ 2017 white wedding reportedly cost more than R1-million. While many brands were falling over themselves to sponsor some of the concepts for their big day, the couple forked out hundreds of thousands of Rands of their own money. Their wedding planner’s services alone cost a whopping R500 000.
