The nation has spent the week reacting to the explosive reports about Black Coffee and Enhle Mbali’s divorce and the latest celebrity to react is Ayanda Thabethe – and she made it easily known whose side she’s taking. Black Coffee tried to turn the tide in his favour this week when he spoke to the press about his ongoing divorce from Enhle Mbali.
The rumour mill had gone into overdrive and the DJ probably felt it best to intervene when he shared his side of the story with City Press. Unfortunately, it didn’t go exactly the way he had pictured it. Black Coffee’s story received a mixed reaction, especially considering that rumours of his infidelity have been doing the rounds on social media for months (actually, years!) now. One particular excerpt that caught the eye was when he admitted to requesting a separation via email, before asking his estranged wife and children to move out.
The DJ said, “In April this year, I sent a lengthy email to her in which I suggested that we should separate and she should find a place to stay with the kids and I would pay for it. I did that because I wanted us to improve our marriage and to be more involved with them. But she declined the offer. Not only were people upset that he said all of this in an email, but many South Africans took exception with the entire request in general.
One such commentator was Ayanda Thabethe, who wrote on Twitter:
Am I wrong to think that if you’re the party that has cheated in a marriage that you need not disturb my life and that you should leave me in my house with my kids . I don’t care if you’re paying for it. 🤷🏾♀️

Many people shared her sentiments, with several others even going as far as cancelling Black Coffee out of protest.
However, comedian Siv Ngesi doesn’t believe that this anger against the DJ will last very long; especially if he releases new music soon.
Siv wrote on Twitter:
You all say Black Coffee is canceled , but wait till one of his songs plays in a club , you’ll uncancel fast fast
