Careful Facebook will let someone steal your page using Business Manager

Careful Facebook will let someone steal your page using Business Manager and there is nothing you can do about it. The latest scam by people on Facebook includes you actually handing over your Facebook Page to Scammers.

It’s sad that you work hard and build your brand and someone in Pakistan just comes and take that all away. So here is how the FACEBOOK PAGE SCAM works… You get a message on your page from someone promising you money to share links and ads on your Page.

Something like – Hello, sir/madam, we are collecting traffic for our site and we will only give you 1 article/video in a day that you can post on the page. I will pay you $1050 per week and my payment will be made in advance. Note: I never ask you for any administrator or editor access to your page. If you are interested so reply me this message or text me from your personal account! Thank you

Because everyone is always looking to make that extra money, you are tempted and ask for more info. The Scammer then asks for your payment details and promises to pay you in advance to sweeten the deal.

The next step is he will create a Facebook Business Manager account and adds you to it after asking for your email address. He then sends you a link to the Facebook Business Manager and gives you the below instructions once you are logged in. See pictures…

Facebook Business Manager Page Scam

Once you add your page, the scammer (in my case was Blake Hilton) then chances the status of your role on the Business Manager. So you cannot change what happens to the page as the page is now owned by the Business Manager. You can’t remove the page from the Business Manager anymore as your role is now limited.

Facebook Business Manager Page Scam

When you go to your page roles, you will see all your other Admins but it now says the page is owned by the Business Manager. The worst part is you can not remove the Business Manager from your admins.

So after seeing that you have been conned, you think, let me contact Facebook, they will help me. Get it from me, ITS A WASTE OF TIME! I don’t think this is the first time these guys have conned someone, but Facebook will not help you in any way, they will tell you to talk to the admin of the Business Manager account (of which by now their profile is deleted).

So it’s like Facebook can see that your page was stolen but they can’t help you. They will, however, give you a long list of what you need to get your page back…. Here is communication I got from Facebook so that I can launch an Admin Dispute.

– We only need a document created by you and the signed and stamped by a notary, not a declaration from the notary. – The declaration under penalty of perjury cannot be altered, it needs to be: “I declare under penalty of perjury that the information provided is true and accurate. – This will not guarantee you that the request will be accepted, the documents will be analyzed by the relevant team which will decide if it will be accepted or not.

To start the process we will need the following:

1 – A copy of a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a current driver’s license or a passport, of the individual signing the statement. See the different kinds of IDs we accept in the Help Center: https://www.facebook.com/help/159096464162185?ref=cr

2 – A notarized and signed statement from a person with sufficient knowledge and authority over this matter that includes all of the following: a) A description of your relationship to the Page (and authority to request a change in the person(s) who manage the Page, as applicable); b) The name of the current person(s) who manage the Page, as applicable; c) The relationship of the above person(s) to the Page; d) An explanation of your request, and whether there has been a termination of the employment and/or business relationship with the named person(s), as applicable;

e) The Facebook account or email address associated with the Facebook account (or Timeline) that you wish to have added as the new admin of the Page; and f) A declaration under penalty of perjury that the information you have provided is true and accurate (your statement must include this language). g. “I declare, under penalty of perjury that the information provided is true and accurate” (your statement must include this language).

I will not be surprised after a few days to see that we have all been removed as admins from the page. Therefore facebook will let someone steal your page using Business Manager and you can’ do anything about it. Share your experience with us in comments, we lost our page Mzansi Online News that had 122 000 fans.
